Royal City Mission and St Andrews Church, in partnership with The Wooly Pub, Elora Brewing Company and the Guelph Community for Active Transportation (GCAT), announce today that they will be hosting a bicycle event on Saturday, June 20thstarting at 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon.

The 13th annual ‘Love Your Bike - A Community Biking Festival’ will be held on the front lawn of St Andrew’s Church, 161 Norfolk St (at Suffolk). All are welcomed, young and old, to celebrate our bikes .. which move us and give us joy! This year’s event will feature a bike show, with prizes awarded in the categories of 1) Vintage, 2) Resto-Mod, 3) Commuter/ Cargo and 4) Kids.

As in prior festivals, a free professional mechanical checkup of your bike is offered by our local bike shops - Speed River Bicycle, Paramount Sports, Flow State Bike Co., plus The Bike Lady. The traditional competitive, but mostly fun, ‘Wrench-Off’ (flat tire fixing) will occur again this year .. but with a twist. Come and find out who our invited competitors are.

Neighbours are encouraged to come early for coffee, fruit and local treats. The morning will be rounded out with a moment of silence for fallen cyclists, followed by a heartwarming ‘blessing of the bikes’. Group rides begin with an escorted family ride around Exhibition Park, with ‘story time’ courtesy of the Guelph Guild of Storytellers. A longer ride starts at the same time, going to Guelph Lake and back.

Rides will finish at The Wooly Pub, with a BBQ and refreshments sponsored by Elora Brewing Company.
